Digital vs Offset vs Digital vs I don't know
Do you print your book Offset or digital because both are useful printing methods. Each have particular benefits depending on your book printing requirements. When you need larger runs of a project, say into the hundreds or thousands, or are using a specific, brand-centric Pantone colour, offset printing is the only way to go. Going Offset you can also use a much wider variety of custom papers and specialty inks, such as metallic or fluorescent inks in the offset process. If you want a small run of less than 100 or the need for individual addresses or personalisation is required, digital printing then is your solution. The best part is that as a self publisher or publisher, your needs can be met with either of these choices. If you are still unsure which to use, PostScript are happy to help you so you get the high-level of quality for your printed product that will make you look great!
PostScript are going "live"..., what does that mean?
PostScript Printing & Publishing are going "live" and online, to help and assist the Self Publishers out there to..., well Self Publish. To bring forth their books, biography, newsletter, memoir, and in their words. Amazing..., with over 40years experience in the printing and publishing industry, seeing the the print industry totally transformed, from hot lead and galleys, through to when film and plates were the innovation of the time, then discarding film altogether and using just plates, to the digital age where plates are now becoming obsolete. To wade through this industry to find a printer to print your book, can be a bit daunting.
Direct Mail stands out
Many studies show how the impact of well-planned direct mail campaigns exceeds electronic direct mail that is often discarded before reaching the target (consumers respond to mailed information 4.4% of the time, to emails only 0.12%), even for difficult to reach millennials. Compared to EDM and banner ads, there are no ad blockers and spam filters for printed direct mail. Even Google uses direct mail for marketing and verifies business listings via direct mail.
So what makes physical direct mail successful?
Here are a few points to remember when planning a mailout:
- The message counts β without good, relevant messaging, no mail piece is going to get people to your site or store. Donβt forget a clear call to action, a special offer or access to a limited release and deliver value to the recipient.
- Extraordinary design of high impact mail β good design is key to make your message stand out and makes the difference whether your card ends up in the bin or on the fridge.
- Splitting up into tiers β It all depends on the quality of your data, but splitting mailings out into different tiers can certainly improve your targeting and increase return on investments. Some ideas for mailout of merchandise to groups in tiers a postcard can convey the right first message, but other times investing a little more is worthwhile and brings the right return.
- High level of customisation and personalisation β again itβs all in the data. Production technology enables you to construct completely customised documents on the fly, whether you want to mail out hundreds or thousands of items. Postcards, letters, catalogues, even books can be printed with completely variable text, images and page counts, depending on the recipient.
Some very effective examples we have produced at PostScript:
- personalised books for children
